Effective anticoagulation represents a widespread challenge, as it spans tumour types and cancer therapies, yet requires individualised treatment planning. Barriers such as poor team collaboration and concerns regarding drug-drug interactions contribute to the underutilisation of anticoagulation. Together, these challenges underscore the need for education and practical guidance on anticoagulation strategies across clinical scenarios—from patients with cancer who develop atrial fibrillation (AF) and require stroke prevention, to those at risk for cancer-associated venous thromboembolism (VTE).
To address this, ECOS hosted two live webinars featuring a multidisciplinary expert panel and a review of cases provided by the ECOS community.
Learning objectives:
Burden and mechanisms of cancer-associated VTE
Current evidence and guidelines for anticoagulation
Case-based discussion: individualising treatment plans
Cases and questions from the ECOS community Example: patient with a history of cancer-associated VTE
“How I manage” interactive faculty, panel, community discussion
Pearls for multidisciplinary and interprofessional collaboration
Lessons from real-world cardio-oncology clinics
Summary and downloadable tools
